RACE REPORT1st BRADLEY SERIES IN KYUSHU
The first round of the long awaited BRADLEY SERIES in Kyushu.
The memorable first round of the Bradley Series Kyushu Round was held on Sunday, June 13, 2021, where Run Cruisers from the Kyushu region gathered to compete in the BRADLEY CUP, one of the premier Land Cruiser events.
The venue was the "J club Hano Kogen Camping and Off-road Ground" in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is located near the Aso-Kujyu National Park, which is known for its many natural monuments, and is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, relax and enjoy the greenery of the trees and the chirping of the birds, and focus on off-road driving.
The three types of vehicles that can enter this Bradley Series are Toyota Jeep, Land Cruiser series (including Prado), and FJ Cruiser. Basically, the same rules apply as for the "BRADLEY CUP".
Although this event is a competition event, it is more than just a competition. The subtitle of the event is "TRAINING MEETING," and it shares the same objectives as the BRADLEY CUP, such as improving off-road driving skills and learning the rules and manners.
In between the competitions, many owners were seen exchanging information about their vehicles. It was a place where like-minded people could interact with each other.
A total of 24 Land Cruisers power through off-road terrain.
The content of the competition was also the same as the "BRADLEY CUP". Markers were laid out on the course, and the riders had to pass through them in a predetermined order. The course is marked with markers, which must be passed in a specific order, and points are deducted for touching the poles or tape, backing up, or getting stuck and stopping for more than 5 seconds.
In other words, the key to victory is how to reach the goal within the time limit and avoid losing points. The participants compete for the knowledge to determine the route to take and the skill to drive the car as they wish.
There are two types of courses: the "Normal Course," which is relatively safe and easy to avoid point deductions, and the "Heavy Course," which is for advanced drivers. Choosing the right course based on your own driving skills is also an important factor in determining the winner.
The venue, "J club Hano Kogen Camping and Off-road Ground" is located at the foot of Mount Aso, and the driving course has unique soil containing volcanic ash.
Although it was not raining on the day of the event, there had been rainfall the day before, and the soil was in muddy conditions that made it difficult for the participants. The participants took on the challenge by wearing mud-resistant tires and driving in a way that only mud can do.
The top performers surprised the staff with their excellent results.
After the competition was over for everyone, the results were tallied and the awards ceremony was held at the end.
It was not an easy course or condition, but the top performers surprised the staff with their excellent results.
Thus, the first BRADLEY Series Kyushu event ended successfully. The second event is scheduled for October 10th.
