What is MCB (Motion Control Beam)?

MCB is a friction damper unique to AISIN, a global supplier of automotive parts.

The MCB, which combines a disc spring + friction plate, is more efficient than an oil damper in terms of steering response and roll angle settling because it is effective even at low expansion and contraction stroke speeds.

By moderately restraining the escape of road surface input to the body, the MCB allows the suspension to fulfill its intended role, which has a positive effect on ride comfort and handling stability.

MCB does not only have a positive effect on on-road driving. It also has a positive effect on off-road driving, such as dirt and cross-country driving.

Traction and stickiness in off-road driving are also caused by the frame daring to twist. Therefore, if the frame is simply converted to a rigid frame, while frame rigidity is improved, the ride quality may deteriorate and the stickiness may be lost, making the vehicle difficult to handle.

Therefore, when the MCB is properly installed, the frame is connected to the damper, and the "amount" of frame torsion is not inhibited, but the "quality" of the torsion can be controlled.

It is easier to understand if we consider the frame as part of the suspension. The frame is more rigid than the springs, so the amount of change is less, but it is constantly vibrating and twisting while driving.
